Students Can Help Achieve Success Through Good Writing!When trying to get your students to learn how to write a short essay, do not forget to incorporate your students into the process. Consider asking your students to provide an essay on something that is happening in their life. Let them provide a solution to the problem they have found with the problem.A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to a student about her experience with the school administration. She mentioned that she was afraid that the school administration would say something negative about her if she didn't get the grades she needed to graduate. I also mentioned that she was not the only one who was upset about the situation. Her mother was very upset and said she did not want her child to feel the way she felt because she too had tried to graduate.So here's the main problem here. All these people think they know how the school administration should be handling this situation. They also think that by asking how they co uld fix the problem, they will get the desired results. However, they don't realize that how they are going to handle the situation can only make the problem worse.Now, it would have been nice for my student to come to me and tell me how she was going to work on how she was going to handle the situation and how she was going to get the desired results. But, the problem is that she has not addressed the problem in her essay. She hasn't really researched the topic. And, she doesn't even realize that she could write something positive in her essay that will really help her in the future. She might even go on to find a different job because she'll see that they actually did something positive.Imagine if I had been there to provide my student with a solution to the problem she was having. I would have told her that the biggest problem that she had to deal with was her belief. It was her belief that something bad was going to happen. And, she needed to get past that problem.Now, I could t ell her that the best solution to this problem was to change her belief. I could also tell her that she needed to be willing to stand up for what she believed. And, I could also tell her that I believed that her belief was not true. She needs to develop a new belief in order to become a successful person.Standing up for what you believe is something that everyone needs to do at one time or another. Everyone's confidence and self-esteem are linked to their beliefs. If your students have a strong belief in something, they will become more confident and self-assured.
